ROME – Junior Nemanja Stefanovic surrendered just five games in cruising through his opener at the ITA Conference Masters Championships, but had his run through the prestigious tournament stopped in his afternoon match on Thursday at the Rome Tennis Center.
Â
Stefanovic never trailed in his opening set with Texas A&M-Corpus Christy's Nathan Favier on the way to a 6-2 victory, then rallied back from a 3-2 deficit in the second set by capturing four-straight games. The Mercer standout led 2-1 in the first set against Western Michigan's Anton Arzhankin, but eventually succumbed 6-4. Stefanovic led 1-0 in the second set, but Arzhankin followed by winning six-straight games.
Â
The Bears will close out the fall portion of their 2024-25 schedule this weekend when they head to Spartanburg, S.C., for the Wofford Invitational. The three-day event will be contested at the Reeves Tennis Center.
