MACON, Ga. - The Mercer men's basketball team begins Southern Conference play on New Year's Day Wednesday as Chattanooga makes the trip down to Macon. Tip-off is set for 3Â p.m. from Hawkins Arena.

SERIES HISTORY
Wednesday's game will be the 46th all-time meeting between Mercer and Chattanooga. Chattanooga leads the all-time series, 27-18 and has won each of the last six meetings.
LAST TIME OUT
Ahmad Robinson scored a game-high 21 points and finished one rebound shy of a triple-double as the Mercer Bears went on the road and defeated Georgia State, 71-68 Saturday afternoon from the GSU Convocation Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Georgia State missed a potential game-tying three-pointer before the final buzzer as the Bears held on for the win. Mercer went 27-of-65 (42%) from the field and Georgia State went 28-for-70 (40%) from the field. Mercer made 10 three-pointers in the game with eight of them coming in the first half.

Mercer ranks second in the SoCon in steals per game (10.2) while Chattanooga is last in the conference with 5.7 steals per game.
SCOUTING CHATTANOOGA
Chattanooga went 8-5 in non-conference play, however the Mocs went just 2-4 on the road. Chattanooga was picked to finish second in the SoCon in the Preseason Coaches Poll. The Mocs rank fifth in the conference in scoring (75.1 ppg) and fourth in scoring defense (70.5 ppg).
Chattanooga has made at least 5 three-pointers in a program record 81 straight games. Defensively the Mocs aren't a high pressure team as they rank last in the conference with just 5.7 steals per game.
Chattanooga has the conference's Preseason Player of the Year in guard Trey Bonham. Bonham leads the Mocs in scoring at 13.6 ppg.
