MACON – Mercer men's basketball (14-15, 7-9) heads to Chattanooga to face the Mocs (19-10, 11-5) on Wednesday. The Bears take a three-game win streak into the matchup, including wins over the top two teams in the conference, Samford and UNC Greensboro. Chattanooga has lost two of its last three contests, falling to Furman and The Citadel.

Tipoff in McKenzie Arena is at 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+. The Bears are 8-12 all-time on the road against Chattanooga. The last win in Gig City was in February of 2020.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BEARS

Mercer defeated the Southern Conference's second ranked team, UNC Greensboro, for the second time this season on Saturday. In the Senior Day showdown, Mercer trailed by one point at halftime but accelerated to a double-digit lead after a 3-pointer by Jake Davis with 10:21 on the clock. The Bears held the Spartans without a field goal for over six minutes. Davis was 5-8 from behind the arc and scored 21 points. Senior Robby Carmody had a hot scoring night, shooting 100 percent from the field, three, and free throw line, to total 19 points. Jalyn McCreary also chipped in 19 points, 17 of them coming in the second half.

SCOUTING REPORT

Chattanooga was victim of an upset in their final road game of the season, falling to The Citadel 71-62 on Saturday. The Mocs entered the second half with a 10-point advantage, but the Bulldogs chipped away, taking the lead with just over two minutes left to play. The Citadel put up 12 unanswered points to shut down the Mocs. Sophomore guard Honor Huff, who transferred to UTC from VMI with Head Coach Dan Earl, is fourth in scoring in the SoCon, averaging 17.6 points per game. He also leads the league in 3-pointers made per game with 3.4.

LOOKING AHEAD

The Bears travel to Furman on Saturday for the final game of the regular season. Tipoff is at 2 p.m. in Greenville.
