Bears Remain in 13th After Day 2 Of Linger Longer Invitational

EATONTON – Senior Tobias Jonsson fired off a 4-under-par 68 in Monday's second round to lead the Mercer men's golf team to a 13th-place standing amid a stacked field at the MU-hosted Linger Longer Invitational at the par-72, 7,436-yard Great Waters Golf Course.

Jonsson (-5) registered five birdies and a one bogeys in the second round of action and is among a two-way tie for 11th place heading into the final day of the three day tournament in Eatonton. The Swede is ten strokes off of the pace set by 21st-ranked Alabama's Jonathan Griz (-15).

Mercer Jacob Uyesato (+6) tallied one birdie and shares 61st place with one other player after the first two rounds, while senior Jay Spivey (+5) turned in 1-over-par 73 and is a four-way tie for 57th place. Senior Jonathan Parker (+10) currently sits in two-way tie with Mercer's own Gustav Sjobrg for 75th place. Junior Trey Mixon (+15) is in 79th place to round out scoring for the Orange & Black.

Freshman Charlie Fischer (+7) and senior Gustav Sjoberg (+10) are tied for 63rd and 75th place, respectively. Sjoberg carded 13 straight pars and finished the round shooting 1-over-par 73.

Alabama leads the rest of the 14-team field by 16 strokes heading into Tuesday's final round. No 12. Virginia (-21) is in second place after the second round, while Georgia (-19) rounds out the top three.
