Beach Volleyball Comes Up Short Against ULM, Georgia State

MACON – Despite strong efforts in the sand, beach volleyball dropped a pair of conference matches Friday. The Bears fell to Louisiana Monroe 3-2, before surrendering to 15th-ranked Georgia State, 5-0.

Nicole O'Mara and Jordan Paddock added to their win column on court two, defeating the Warhawks in straight sets. Hollis Engel and Alyssa Scoggins also earned a point for the Bears, defeating their opponents 21-13, 21-11.

The No. 1 pairing of Sydney Benson and Kate Hardie fought hard after dropping the first set, 19-21. The duo bounced back in set two, but Louisiana Monroe ultimately prevailed in the heartbreaking third set, 16-14.

Reese Hood and Lexi Polychrones conquered set one on court three, 21-15, but dropped the next two frames to ULM's Eden Anderson and Kate Taylor, 20-22, 12-15.

In Friday's nightcap, the Panthers won four of the five matches in straight sets. Hood and Polychrones once again took their battle to three sets but could not overcome the strength of Ayla Johnson and Elise Saga.

The Bears are back in action tomorrow against Coastal Carolina at 11:30 a.m., before wrapping up the event against Southern Miss at 3:15 p.m.
