Bears Post Solid Day At Don McGarey Invitational

KENNESAW, Ga. – Junior Nikki Harris posted a seventh-place finish in the 800m Run, while three Bears finished inside the top 6 in the 2000m Steeplechase, to highlight action for the Mercer track & field team on the final day of the Kennesaw State-hosted Don McGarey Invitational.

Senior Bri Teegarden established a new school record on the way to finishing in the runner-up spot of the 2000m Steeplechase, but she was joined in the top 6 of that competition by both senior Patrycja Miazek and sophomore Olivia Jones who crossed in fourth and sixth place, respectively.

Harris was 13 seconds off of the pace of Kennesaw State's Emma Sullivan in the 800m Run. It was her third career top-10 finish in that discipline.

The Orange & Black will continue its 2024 campaign next weekend when it splits the squad and heads to meets in different time zones. The distance squad will pack up its show and head to North Carolina for the NC State-hosted Raleigh Relays, while the sprinters, jumpers and hurdlers are off to Birmingham, Ala., for the UAB Spring Invite.
