Baseball Travels To Georgia State On Wednesday

MACON – The Mercer baseball team (9-3, 0-0) will travel to Atlanta to play Georgia State (5-6, 0-0) on Wednesday at noon. The game was rescheduled due to rain on Tuesday.Â
After 12 games, Mercer has the lowest ERA (4.03) and most home runs (20) in the Southern Conference. Bryant Olson leads the SoCon in saves (4), and Wesley Franklin leads the league in wins (3).

| In the weekend series against Northeastern, a fourth-inning grand slam by Noah Best gave Mercer a 5-2 lead on the way to a 6-3 win on Saturday. The Bears' nine-game win streak came to an end in an 8-2 loss in game one of Sunday's doubleheader. Bradley Frye hit a solo home run in the first inning, but the Huskies got going with a three-run homer in the fourth and only needed two pitchers to hold off the Bears. The series rubber match began much like the previous game, with a first-inning solo homer, this time by Parker Lester. NU scored on two home runs in both the seventh and eighth innings to come back from an 8-4 deficit. MU came within one run with two outs, but fell 10-9. |

| Georgia State has a 5-6 overall record, including a sweep of Southern Conference member Western Carolina over the weekend. GSU put up double-digit runs in four games this season, two of those against WCU, but got shut out against both Georgia and Georgia Tech. The Panthers are 1-3 at home, defeating Seton Hall 3-2. |
