MACON – Visiting and 20th-ranked Clemson scored 15 goals in the opening half to take a big lead into the intermission, and then held off upset-minded Mercer in the third and fourth periods on the way to a 22-10 victory over the Bears on Tuesday afternoon at Five Star Stadium.

The setback snapped a two-game win streak for the Bears (2-2) who have dropped both of their home contests this season to Atlantic Coast Conference foes. The nationally-ranked Tigers (5-1) improved to 3-0 in true road games this season with the result.
