Tobias Jonsson Leads Men’s Golf On Day 1 of Augusta Haskins Award Invitational

AUGUSTA – Senior Tobias Jonsson shot a 4-under-par (68) in the second round to lead the way for the Mercer men's golf team on Saturday at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitation. However, the Bears were unable to make any headway on the team leaderboard through two rounds and is currently in 14th place heading into the final round on Sunday.
Jonsson (-5) led the way for the Bears through two rounds and currently sits tied for second place. Jonathan Parker is tied for 61st after shooting a 3-over-par 75 in the second round and 79 (+7) in round one. Gustav Sjoberg (+13) finished day one tied for 70th place. Trey Mixon (+14) and Jay Spivey (+16) finished the first day tied for 73rd and in 75th place, respectively.
North Carolina cruised past the rest of the 15-team field by 10 strokes after the first two rounds. Augusta (-6) and Texas (-6) sit tied for 2nd place. Behind them in fourth is Oklahoma State.
The Bears will be back on the tee box Sunday, April 7 for the final round of the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational.
