MacLeod Repeats As SoCon Player Of The Week

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Another unblemished week on the court led to additional honors from the league office in Greenville, S.C., on Tuesday when it crowned Samuel MacLeod as Southern Conference Player of the Week for the second-straight week.

MacLeod, a senior from Glasgow, Scotland, turned in a perfect 4-0 record on the court last week, including a 2-0 mark in his position at No. 5 singles. He toughed out a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 win over Lucas Robins in Monday's 4-3 home win over The Citadel, then surrendered just five games in a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Chattanooga's Kristof Kincses on Sunday at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.

MacLeod was equally as formidable in doubles action alongside fellow senior Samuel Barrow last week. The tandem tacked up its fourth- and fifth-straight wins of the campaign, defeating The Citadel's Robins/Noah Van Dyke by a 6-4 score, and Chattanooga's duo of Walker Valentine and Jaxon Lamb, 6-3.

Winners in six of their last seven outings, the Bears (7-10, 4-1 SoCon) will snap the lid on the road portion of their regular season schedule on Friday against Samford (12-7, 5-1) before returning home on Sunday for a Senior Day dual with league nemesis Furman (10-11, 3-2).
