
Bears Send Four To Academic All-District Squad

MACON – The Mercer men's tennis team was handsomely recognized for its efforts inside the classroom on Saturday morning when four of its seniors – Samuel Barrow, Lucas Dini, Samuel MacLeod and Victor Putter – were all decorated with Academic All-District laurels by College Sports Communicators.

The 2024 Academic All-District® Men's Tennis teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be eligible for the Academic All-District® and Academic All-America® award, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale, must be in the lineup for 70 percent of the total matches played by the team that includes team scores, and is at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

Dini (electrical engineering), MacLeod (sports marketing & analytics) and Putter (technical management) all earned their master's degrees from Mercer last week, while Barrow completed was presented with his bachelor's degree in neuroscience. All four student-athletes maintained grade point averages of 3.626 or better.
