MACON, Ga. - Mercer head volleyball coach Chad Sutton and the Bears have released their 2024 schedule.
Mercer's 29-match schedule features 12 home matches inside Hawkins Arena, including eight home SoCon contests.
The 2024 season begins August 30 at the UNF Invitational in Jacksonville, Florida. Mercer's first opponent in the invitational is Quinnipiac before taking on Rhode Island and North Florida on August 31.
The Bears will play six of their first seven matches away from Macon. Mercer's home opener is September 4 against Maryland Eastern Shore. The Bears will host the Mercer Invitational September 13-14 with matches against Elon, Southern Miss, and Presbyterian.
Following its home match against Presbyterian on September 14, Mercer will not play at home again in nearly three weeks as the Bears welcome ETSU to Macon in the first SoCon home match of the season on Ocober 4.
Mercer will play all eight other SoCon teams twice - once home and once away - to close out the regular season. The Bears will get to finish the regular season at home with three straight matches inside Hawkins Arena beginning with Samford on November 9, followed by Wofford on November 15, and UNCG in the regular season finale on November 16.
The SoCon Tournament will take place in Asheville, North Carolina from November 22-24.
Last season in coach Sutton's first year as head coach, the Bears went 16-12 overall and 12-4 in conference play, finishing second in the SoCon standings. The Bears return six players from last year's team including First Team All-Conference middle blocker Skyler Bumpers.
