MACON - Josh Harlow, a standout right-handed pitcher for the Bears from 2022-23, has been promoted to the Lake County Captains, the High-A Affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians, the organization announced yesterday.Â
Â
Harlow, who began the season with the Low-A Lynchburg Hillcats, has been stellar in his first full season in the minor leagues. With Lynchburg, he appeared in 28 games, sporting a 4-3 record with a 3.51 ERA. He struck out 47 batters across 41 innings of work.
Â
Harlow's promotion comes on the heels of a dominant six-game stretch in which he did not allow an earned run. Over the six outings, Harlow tossed 11-1/3 innings, surrendering just seven hits and punching out 19.Â
Â
A native of Garner, North Carolina, Harlow arrived in Macon from Pitt Community College for the 2022 season. He served as a weekend starter in his first season with the Bears, holding a 7-2 record with a 4.92 ERA across 15 starts. The right-hander struck out 84 in just 67-2/3 innings, good for 11.2 K/9.Â
Â
Despite missing most of the season due to injury, Harlow was fantastic for the Bears in 2023, holding a sparkling 2.15 ERA with a WHIP of just 0.99. He made seven appearances (five starts), logging 29-1/3 innings, striking out 35 and walking eight. Harlow finished the season leading the team in ERA, WHIP and batting average against (.205).Â
