MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's soccer team won comfortably by the final of 9-0 in its home opener over Berry Monday night from Betts Stadium. Mercer's nine goals marks the fifth consecutive season the Bears have scored at least nine goals in a game.

Four different Mercer players scored their first career goal as a Bear and for three of those players it was the first goal of their collegiate career.

The Bears proved to be the dominant team throughout the night as they controlled possession and scoring chances for most of the game. Mercer had 12 different players record a point in the game. Shots were 40-1 in favor of Mercer and shots on goal were 22-0.

It did take over 20 minutes for the Bears to find the back of the net as Keelin Pray scored a spectacular goal in the 22nd minute with a left-footed shot from outside the box that found the top right corner to put Mercer ahead 1-0. From there, Mercer's offense seemed to get in a rhythm as senior Alexis Scarpinato scored her first goals in the black and orange with a first half brace to put the Bears up 3-0 at halftime.

Mercer scored three goals in the opening 10 minutes of the second half to take a 6-0 lead and put the game out of reach for Berry. The first two goals were first career goals for freshman Maggie Rollins and sophomore Anna Bachman. The sixth goal of the night for the Bears was the 18th in the career of junior Jada Moorman.

Freshman Karlie Dell also had two goals on the night and in between her goals, Sydney Farr found the back of the net in the 68th minute for her second goal of the season.

Lindsay Bell earned the shutout in goal.

+ Keelin Pray got things going for Mercer offensively with the first goal of the game and earned the GRIT chain.
+ Alexis Scarpinato made the most of her chances off the bench scoring on two of her three shots on the night and adding one assist.
+ Mercer's back line was once again strong, allowing Berry next to nothing offensively and limiting the Vikings to just one shot.
+ Freshmen, Karlie Dell and Maggie Rollins each scored their first career goals with Dell scoring a brace.

+ 18 of the 19 field players that played in the game for Mercer logged at least 40 minutes.
