Mercer Finishes In A Tie For Fifth At Golfweek Fall Challenge

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The Mercer men's golf team had a strong final day at the Golfweek Fall Challenge, shooting five-under as a team to finish the tournament in a tie for fifth place.

Freshman Henry Robards had the top round of the day for the Bears, making five birdies and only one bogey to finish the round at four-under. It was an impressive debut for the Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. native, who finished the tournament tied for 19th overall and first among Mercer players at one-under.

Nathan Trodd finished just behind Robards at even for the tournament. He shot an even 72 on Tuesday to earn a tie for 23rd on the leaderboard.

Trey Mixon and J.T. Herman were not far behind, finishing the tournament at one-over and two-over, respectively. Mixon shot one-under on the day, while Herman shot even.

Arkansas State put the finishing touches on their team victory on Tuesday, shooting 15-under to finish the tournament at an impressive 35-under. Austin Peay State's Patton Samuels won the individual title with a score of 15-under.

The Bears will be back on the tee box for the J.T. Poston Invitational from September 15-17. The tournament, hosted by Western Carolina, will be played at the Waynesville Inn and Golf Club in Waynesville, N.C.
