Men's Golf To Begin Play At JT Poston Invitational Sunday

MACON – After playing their first tournament of the year last week, the Mercer men's golf team heads to Waynesville, N.C. on Sunday for the JT Poston Invitational. The three-day event, hosted by Western Carolina, will be played at the Waynesville Inn and Golf Club.

The Bears finished the Golfweek Fall Invitational last Tuesday in a tie for fifth place in the 15-team field. The team improved their score each day and sat at one-over par for the event. The Bears were led by freshman Henry Robards, who shot one-under in his first collegiate tournament to place in a tie for 19^th on the individual leaderboard. The Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. native carded a 68 in round three, the low round of the tournament for Mercer. Nathan Trodd, Trey Mixon and J.T. Herman all had solid performances as well, finishing even, one-over and two-over, respectively.

The JT Poston invitational features a 15-team field that includes SoCon rivals Western Carolina and Wofford. The tournament will tee off on Sunday at 9 a.m.
