Mercer Completes Day One Of JT Poston Invitational

WAYNESVILLE, N.C. – The Mercer men's golf team finished day one of the JT Poston Invitational in Waynesville, N.C. on Sunday. The Bears shot 15-over for the day, good for 14th place on the team leaderboard.Â
Freshmen Henry Robards and Ryan Curran led the charge for Mercer on day one. Both Robards and Curran carded a two-over 72 on the day and are tied for 36th on the individual leaderboard. Robards continues to play well upon his arrival in Macon, as he posted the low score for the Bears in their first tournament of the year, the Golfweek Fall Challenge, last week.Â

Nathan Trodd finished just behind the two freshmen with a three-over 73. He is tied for 49th on the individual leaderboard.Â
Trey Mixon and J.T. Herman rounded out the Mercer lineup, scoring 78 and 79, respectively.Â
Lipscomb built a four-stroke lead over the rest of the field on Sunday, scoring six-under. Of the 15 team field, only three teams, Lipscomb, Eastern Kentucky and Coastal Carolina, finished the day under-par.Â
Lipscomb's Alejandro Rodriguez sits in first place on the individual leaderboard at five-under.Â
