MACON – The Mercer men's tennis team will continue the fall portion of its 2024-25 schedule this weekend when the Bears pack up their show and head to Birmingham, Ala., for the Samford Invitational 2.

The Bears will open their portion of the three-day "hidden duals" event when they take to the singles court on Friday at 11 a.m. to battle Samford. Mercer will close out opening-day action at the Pat M. Courington Tennis Pavillion with doubles play against Chattanooga at 1 p.m.

Saturday's schedule has the Bears taking on Lipscomb in doubles play at 1 p.m. prior to their singles tilt with Chattanooga in the evening session. Mercer will take on both Lipscomb (singles) and Samford (doubles) on Sunday.

Newcomers Amen Prince Gandonou and freshman Shingo Masuda highlighted Mercer's fall opener at the Georgia-hosted Southern Intercollegiates last weekend by breezing through the doubles tournament black draw. The duo surrendered just seven games amid their run to the championship.
