Morganne Eikelbarner scored her eighth goal of the season
MACON, Ga. –  Morganne Eikelbarner's 8th goal of the season in the 47th minute proved to be the game-winning goal as Mercer picked up a crucial three points at home in a 1-0 win over UNCG Saturday night from Betts Stadium.
Mercer improves its conference record to 2-2-2 on the season and the Bears are now 5-2-1Â at home.
Avery Parker earned her second consecutive shutout while making two saves in the win.
In Mercer's first home game in more than two weeks, the Bears came out in the first half with good energy and had the better scoring chances. Eikelbarner hit the post in the 23rd minute but the Bears couldn't find the first goal in the first half as the score was 0-0 at halftime.
It didn't take long for the Bears to score in the second half. In the 47th minute, Hayden Lepley played a ball out wide to Anna Bachman. Bachman dribble down the right wing and sent a low cross from the edge of the box, across the 6-yard box where Eikelbarner was there to tap in the ball for her team leading eighth goal of the season.
UNCG had a few looks at goal in the second half, but Mercer's defense along with Parker stood strong to keep the Spartans off the board and earn the shutout win.
