
Men's Basketball Hosts LaGrange Wednesday Night In Home Opener

MACON, Ga. -Â The Mercer men's basketball team opens its 2025-26 season by visiting one of the best teams in the country in No. 18 Tennessee Monday night in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The game will be broadcasted live on ESPN+, as well as on the Sportsmic App with veteran Mercer broadcaster Rick Cameron handling the play-by-play duties.

Baraka Okojie led Mercer with 15 points and Brady Shoulders had an game-high six steals, but the Mercer Bears fell on the road to No. 18 Tennessee, 76-61 in the season opener Monday night in Knoxville.

| Last season, LaGrange went 6-19 overall and just 1-11 in conference play. The Panthers play in Division III's Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS). The Panthers were picked to finish last in the seven team league in the preseason coaches poll. Wednesday's game will be the season opener for LaGrange. Last season, LaGrange averaged 75.5 points per game while allowing 79.1 points per game. The Panthers shot 40.1 percent from the field and 27.9 percent from behind the arc. LaGranage will have to replace its top three scorers from a season ago, who all averaged more than 10.0 points per game. This year's leading returning scorer for the Panthers is number zero, Devin Dowell who averaged 9.6 points per game last year. Dowell started 13 of the Panthers' 24 games last season. Senior guard Brodie Scott returns as the team's leading rebounder after averaging 6.5 rebounds per game last season. |
