Mercer Hosts Georgia State Tuesday Night

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer men's basketball team welcomes in-state foe Georgia State to Macon Tuesday night. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. inside Hawkins Arena.

Baraka Okojie poured in a career high 29 points to go with 10 assists to lead the Mercer Bears to a 91-84 win over Elon Saturday evening from the Schar Center in Elon, North Carolina.

SERIES HISTORY
Tuesday's game will be the 94th all-time meeting between Mercer and Georgia State. Mercer leads the series, 52-41. The two teams met last season in Atlanta where Mercer won 71-68.

NEED TO KNOW
Mercer has scored at least 90 points in four of its five wins this season. The Bears lead the SoCon in scoring offense at 83.4 points per game.

SCOUTING GEORGIA STATE
Last season, Georgia State went 14-19 overall and 8-10 in conference play in the Sun Belt Conference. The Panthers were picked 11th out of 14 teams in the Sun Belt Preseason Coaches Poll.

Georgia State marks the second Sun Belt opponent this season for the Bears. Mercer defeated App State on Nov. 26, 75-67.

Georgia State has struggled offensively as they rank second to last in the Sun Belt at 63.1 points per game.

Four of Georgia State's starting five consist of newcomers, including two veteran transfers and a freshman. One of those starters is freshman Micah Tucker who is second on the team in scoring at 11.1 points per game.

Georgia State's leading scorer is redshirt sophomore guard Julani Hamilton who is averaging 16.3 points per game.
