Herman Finishes Third, Bears Finish Fifth At Wexford Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Mercer men's golf team secured a fifth place finish at the Wexford Intercollegiate while graduate student J.T. Herman finished in a tie for third place in the final round of the event on Tuesday in Hilton Head Island. Herman shot two-under for the tournament for a top three finish in the 90-player field, including a five-under 67 in round two complete with six birdies.
As a team, the Bears shot 21-over, climbing the team leaderboard after each round for a top-five finish.
Nathan Trodd had the low round for the Bears on Tuesday, shooting a two-under 70 highlighted by five birdies to finish in a tie for 23rd. Henry Robards also climbed the leaderboard with a strong final round, carding a one-over 73 for a T35 finish. Trey Mixon and Cole Hanson rounded out the Mercer lineup, shooting 75 and 78 in the final round, respectively.
Xavier separated themselves from the pack on Tuesday to cruise to the team win at one-under. On the individual side, Ray Filter of Xavier took the win at five-under, with Denver's Willis Panzarello finishing one stroke ahead of Herman for second place.
