SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the 62nd all-time meeting between Mercer and Wofford. Wofford leads the all-time series, 35-26, with the Terriers winning the first matchup this season in Spartanburg, 69-49.
LAST TIME OUT
Tyler Johnson led all scorers with 26 points, but the Mercer Bears fell on the road to Samford, 100-79 Wednesday night from the Pete Hanna Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
Both teams shot the ball well from the floor as Mercer went 29-for-65 (45%) from the field and Samford 36-of-83 (43%). The Bulldogs attempted 50 three-point shots making 22 of them for a 44 percent clip. Mercer went 9-for-24 from deep (38%). Each team got after the offensive glass as Mercer had 18 offensive rebounds and Samford 20. Second chance points were 27-23 Samford.
NEED TO KNOW
Saturday's game features two of the best rounding big men in the SoCon in Wofford's Kyler Filewich who leads the conference in rebounding at 9.5 rebounds per game and Mercer's Alex Holt who ranks fifth in the SoCon with 7.2 rebounds per game.
SCOUTING WOFFORD
Wofford enters Saturday's game with an 12-12 record, including a 6-5 mark in conference play. The Terriers started 5-2 in conference play, but have since gone 1-3 with its most recent loss coming at home to Chattanooga on Wednesday.
Wofford is just 4-8 on the road this season. The Terriers rank sixth in the SoCon in scoring at 74.1 points per game and fourth in scoring defense at 70.4 points per game.
Only Mercer has pulled down more rebounds in conference play this season than the Terriers. Mercer averages 39.4 rebounds per game to Wofford's 37.6 per game average in conference play.
Wofford has a balanced scoring lineup led by senior guard Corey Tripp who averages 13.3 points per game. Guard Dillon Bailey and center Kyler Filewich also average double figures in scoring at 12.2 and 11.3 points per game respectively. Filewich leads the SoCon with 9.5 rebounds per game.
