
Mercer Drops Match At Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Mercer women's tennis team dropped its match at Florida State, 6-1 Sunday afternoon in Tallahasse, Florida.
The morning got started with doubles matches where Florida State Millie Bissett and Laura Putz defeated Mercer's Marina de Diego Quinones and Ines Hömberg 6-0. The Seminoles would then clinch the doubles point on court one where the Seminoles' Maria Romero and Eva Shaw defeated Marie Bannmeyer and Dzhastina Mikhnova, 6-1.
The last doubles match went unfinished on court three where Florida State's Maelie Monfils and Tina Li held a 5-3 lead over Kennedi Jones and Lea von Kozierowski.
Florida State's top singles player in No. 119 Mary Deatherage won the first singles point for the Seminoles on court two when she defeated Dzhastina Mikhnova 6-2, 6-2. On court one, Eva Shaw of Florida State defeated Marina de Diego Quinones, 6-3, 6-1 to give Florida State a 3-0 lead.
Florida State's Maria Romero clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Marie Bannmeyer. On court Florida State's Maelie Monfils defeated Jelena Gojkovic, 6-1, 7-5.
Tea Zivic won her match on court four against Florida State's Tina Li, 6-4, 6-2 to close out the match.
Next up for Mercer is another ACC oponent as the Bears will travel to Clemson, South Carolina to take on the Clemson Tigers on Friday, Feb. 14. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m.
