
Mercer Set For Another Top 10 Opponent as No. 6 Florida Visits Macon

MACON, Ga. - Fresh off a win over No. 9 Clemson earlier in the week, the Mercer women's lacrosse team is set to welcome No. 6 Florida to Macon on Saturday. The game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the sixth all-time meeting between Mercer and Florida. The Gators have won all five games between the teams. The two teams met last season in Gainesville, where Florida won 20-7.
LAST TIME OUT
Ansley Walters scored the game-winning goal with 4:27 left and the Mercer women's lacrosse team held on to defeat No. 9 Clemson, 11-10 last Tuesday from Clemson, South Carolina.
The win is the first ranked win in program history and second over an ACC opponent (vs Virginia Tech, 2023).
Caroline Glus led Mercer offensively with four goals and one assist. Walters scored a hat trick to go with two draw controls and one ground ball. Kayla Casey was excellent in goal with 12 saves and a 54.5 save percentage.
SCOUTING FLORIDA
Florida is 5-2 so far on the season. The Gators are coming off a narrow 14-13 comeback win at home over No. 23 Navy on Wednesday. It was Florida's third ranked win of the season as the Gators also have wins over No. 11 Johns Hopkins, No. 15 Loyola.
This season, Florida joined the Big 12 Conference after previously being a member of the American Athletic Conference. In the 2025 Preseason Coaches Poll, Florida was picked to win the Big 12 Conference. The Gators went 20-3 last season and reach the NCAA Tournament Semifinals.
This season, Florida is averaging 14.5 goals per game which ranks second in the Big 12 and 19th nationally. The Gators are allowing 11.4 goals per game defensively.
Florida has started games fast and finished strong as their best quarters this season have been the first and fourth quarters. In those two quarters the Gators are outscoring their opponents, 55-32. In the middle two quarters, Florida's opponents have outscored them 48-47.
Florida has two Tewaaraton Watch List, players in defender Theresa Bragg and midfielder Kaitlyn Davies. Bragg leads the team with 14 caused turnovers, while Davies is fifth on the team with 15 points (13G, 2A).
Florida has struggled a bit in the draw circle as they are winning just 45.0 percent of draw controls on the year.
The expected starting goalie for the Gators is Elyse Finnelle who owns a 13.1 goals against average with a 36.6 save percentage.
