
Mercer Hosts James Madison On Monday Afternoon

MACON – The Mercer men's tennis team will close out a short two-match stay at home on Monday when the Bears suit up to take on Sun Belt Conference foe James Madison in a 2 p.m. matchup at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center. Admission is free.

Mercer (4-5) has raked in victories in two of its last three home contests, but had its two-match winning skein snapped on Tuesday with a tough 4-3 setback to Belmont. Conversely, James Madison (5-5) had its run of consecutive road wins snapped with a 4-0 shutout at the hands of Georgia State on Sunday in Rome.

The Orange & Black is still led on the doubles court by junior tandem Amen Prince Gandonou and Hod'Abalo Isak Padio who have rattled off a 17-8 mark on the doubles courts this season, including a 5-4 mark during the spring dual meet season. Padio has raked in a team-best 15 singles wins in his first season in the Orange & Black, while fellow junior Nemanja Stefanovic has tallied a team-best five wins on the singles courts during the spring.

JMU's No. 1 doubles team of junior Esteve Agusti and freshman Zach Fleishman have picked up wins in two of their last three battles together. Agusti and rookie Aurelien Schmitt lead the Dukes with 14 singles victories apiece.

Mercer will open up Southern Conference play on Sunday when it heads to Tennessee to tangle with Chattanooga (10-7, 1-0 SoCon), but will return to Macon again on March 27 to take on league rival East Tennessee State (7-4, 2-0).
