Hastings 7th In Long Jump At Georgia Tech Invitational

ATLANTA – Junior Jiya Hastings leapt 5.29 meters on the way to a 7^th-place finish to lead a parade of Bears with top 25 finishes in the Long Jump and highlight action for the Mercer track & field team on Day 1 of the Georgia Tech Invitational inside the George C. Griffin Track & Field Facility.

Newcomer Naomi Pierce faulted on her first two attempts in the Long Jump, but made her outdoor debut a memorable one with a jump of 5.12 meters on her final attempt to notch an 11^th place tally. Jayla Simmons (4.79m) also recorded a finish in the top 25 of the event.

Arielle Livingston registered a 13^th-place finish in the 100m Hurdles in her collegiate debut for the Orange & Black as well. Sophomore Melissa Ubani led the way for the Bears in the 100m Dash after crossing in 22^nd place.

Mercer has entries in four different events on Saturday at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, including the debut of 4x100m Relay squad at 1 p.m. The Orange & Black is also slated to compete in the 200m and 400m Dash, as well as the Triple Jump.
