4/12/2025 7:42:00 PM | Track & Field
TAMPA, Fla. – Senior Jiya Hastings opened up the day with a 14th-place finish in the Long Jump, while the 4x100m Relay squad registered a season-best time of 47.30 seconds, as the Mercer track & field team registered a solid day at the South Florida Invitational on Saturday at the USF Track & Field Stadium.
The Orange & Black finished its day in central Florida with a quartet of top-20 performances, including the 4x100m Relay squad which shaved nearly 0.5 seconds off of its previous season-best time on the way to a 10th place showing. Hastings was joined in the Top 20 gallery by freshman Arielle Livingston who posted an 18th-place finish in the 100m Hurdles, as well as newcomer Kamryn Copeland who was 20th in the Triple Jump.
The Bears will split their squad again next weekend, April 18-19, and head in much different directions. The hurdlers, jumpers and sprinters will trek to Waco, Texas, for the Baylor-hosted Michael Johnson Invite, while the distance squad will make the short drive to Atlanta for the Georgia Tech Invitational.
