MACON – The Mercer beach volleyball team will put the wraps on the regular season portion of its 2025 schedule on Wednesday when the Bears suit up to host cross-town rival Wesleyan in a 10 a.m. doubleheader at Bear Beach.
Fans unable to make the trip to Middle Georgia can follow both matches in progress for free via live statistics links provided by the MU athletics department.
Sporting their highest win total in the 14-year history of the program, Mercer (21-11) is fresh off of a four-match split at last weekend's North Florida Invite in Jacksonville, Fla. The Bears tacked up their fifth and sixth wins of the season against Jacksonville, while also dropping a pair of outings with 17th-ranked UNF.
Wesleyan (1-3-1), a first-year NCAA Division III squad, picked up the program's first-ever win with a 3-2 triumph over Georgia Highlands on Thursday in Macon. The Wolves debuted their newest program on March 14 at the Huntingdon Beach Bash #2 in Montgomery, Ala.
Wednesday's matchups at Bear Beach will mark the final home games for an eight-woman strong senior class for the Bears. Five members of the octet have already etched their name into the program's 50-Win Club, while Lexi Polychrones could join that prestigious group with two wins against Wesleyan.
The midweek twinbill will also serve as a final warm up for next week's Sun Belt Conference Championship in Foley, Ala. Pairings and times for that event will be announced later this week.
