MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's golf team has accepted an invite to a postseason tournament with the National Golf Invitational (NGI) held at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona.
The tournament, presented by Golfweek, is in its third year. Mercer has earned an invite to all three National Golf Invitational's. The Bears finished third in the 2023 tournament and sixth in the 2024 tournament which each year welcomed 10 teams to Maricopa.
"We are excited to be invited to the National Golf Invitational this year," said Mercer head coach Michele Drinkard. "We have had the great fortune to earn a spot in the first two years of the NGI and looking forward to competing for another championship. Ak Chin Southern Dunes is a fun challenging golf course and expect scoring to be low."
Â
"Thank you to Lance Ringler and Golfweek for providing another post season tournament for both women and men's golf. The NGI is nationally recognized as the NIT of college golf."
Seniors Mikayla Dubnik and Katie Scheck are looking forward to the opportunity of competing out in Arizona to close out their senior year.
Â
"I am very thankful to be returning to Arizona with my teammates for this postseason tournament," said senior Mikayla Dubnik. "This opportunity is amazing, and I can't wait to have a great week with the team on an amazing golf course."
Â
"I'm honored to compete alongside my teammates in the postseason at the NGI," said senior Katie Scheck. "It's an exciting chance to play a fun course, make some unforgettable memories, and hopefully bring home the W!"
