Jacksonville leads the series 13-2, including a close 8-7 win over the Bears the last time the two squads met on March 23, 2024 at Five Star Stadium. Mercer's two wins came in 2015 and 2016, one at home and the other on Jacksonville's turf.Â
LAST TIME OUT
Mercer was defeated 8-12 by Air Force on Saturday, April 19, at Five Star Stadium on Senior Day. The Bears got off to a slow start in the first quarter but started to gain momentum in the second and third quarter. However, it was not enough to top the explosive Air Force offense resulting in an 8-12 loss to the Falcons.
Mercer was led by sophomore attackman Dillon Bush who recorded a hat trick for the sixth time this season and tied Mercer's single-season goal record with 35 goals on the season, previously broken by assistant coach, Sean Goldsmith, who shattered the record back in 2022. The remaining five goals came from Michael Frederick, Dylan McKelvy, Luke Fox, Jack Sullivan and Will Zylstra who also posted an assist on the afternoon. The defense put up a strong fight against the Falcons with Nolan Filley, Kade McNeil, Sullivan and Fox picking up three groundballs each and Quinn Kelley caused two turnovers. Between the pipes, senior goalkeeper Rand Paddack registered 14 saves.
SCOUTING JACKSONVILLE
The Dolphins are led by John Galloway who enters his ninth season at the helm for Jacksonville. The Dolphins finished the 2024 season with an overall record of 13-5 and a 8-1 record in the ASUN with an appearance in the conference championship game. Jacksonville currently sits with a record of 8-4 including a 3-1 record in the ASUN with a loss to Utah and they are currently tied for second with Air Force in the conference standings, securing them a spot in the conference tournament. The Dolphins have recorded 155 goals, 110 assists, 394 ground balls and 122 caused turnovers across 12 games.
