
Mercer Drops 5-2 Contest At Home To Western Carolina

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's tennis team dropped its match at home, 5-2 to Western Carolina on Saturday afternoon from the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.
In doubles action, Western Carolina's Jade Groen and Chloe Schwarz defeated Marina de Diego Quinones and Ines Hömberg, 6-1. Angela Perez and Madison Schwarz clinched the doubles point for the Catamounts with a 6-3 win over Marie Bannmeyer and Jelena Gojkovic on court three. The last doubles match also went the Catamounts way as Andrea Redondo and Isabella Sambola defeated Emilia Cosatto and Tea Zivic, 6-4.
In singles matches, Mercer got an early on court three after Western Carolina's Chloe Schwarz had to retire do to injury in the second set against Tea Zivic who was leading 2-1 in the second set after winning the first set, 6-3.

Isabella Sambola clinched the match for Western Carolina with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Emilia Cosatto on court two. Jelena Gojkovic earneed a 6-1, 6-4 win over Western Carolina's Zoe Lui. The last match to finish was on court four where Madison Schwarz of Western Carolina was able to edge out a hard fought, 6-4, 7-6 (3) win over Dzhastina Mikhnova.
Mercer wraps up the regular season next Thursday, April 10 at 2 p.m. as Samford makes the visit to Macon. The match is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
