MACON – The residual effects of one of the best campaigns in the 45-year history of the program was evident on Thursday when Mercer's doubles team of senior Marceau Fouilhoux and junior Nemanja Stefanovic was listed among the nation's top tandems in the final rankings by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Â
The duo, which became the first MU doubles team to sport a national ranking in five years at the conclusion of the fall portion of the 2024-25 slate, checked in at No. 74 in Thursday's ranking by the collegiate tennis organization. It is the first Mercer doubles tandem in program history to be included in the final national ranking release.
Â
A second team all-conference honoree, Fouilhoux/Stefanovic posted a 23-8 clip across the entirety of the 2024-25 season, including a 13-5 clip amid the traditional spring season. The duo registered a 12-1 record on Court No. 2, including a nine-match win streak that bridged March and April. The tandem concluded the fall season with a 10-3 record on the way to securing a No. 55 listing in the ITA rankings.
Â
The Bears (12-8, 6-1 SoCon) used a school record seven-match win streak to secure a share of the 2025 Southern Conference regular season championship in mid-April. Stefanovic and junior Hod'Abalo Isak Padio picked up first team all-league accolades on the singles courts, while Padio and fellow newcomer Amen Prince Gandonou joined Fouilhoux/Stefanovic as a second team all-conference doubles pick.
Â
Skipper Eric Hayes was also lauded as the SoCon Coach of the Year.
