SERIES HISTORY
Friday's game will be the sixth all-time meeting between Mercer and Alabama. Alabama leads the all-time series, 3-2-0. Mercer's last win against the Crimson Tide came on Sept. 1, 2013.
LAST TIME OUT
Mercer is coming off a 1-0 win in its home opener last Sunday over West Georgia. Freshman Payton Nutzman sent a perfect cross into the box and Maria Karipidis was there to head the ball in the back of the net in the 77th minute for the lone goal of the game.
SCOUTING ALABAMA
Alabama enters Friday's game with an unblemished record of 4-0-0. The Crimson Tide have already defeated two SoCon teams in a 1-0 win over Chattanooga and most recently a 3-1 win over Samford last Sunday. Alabama was picked to finish seventh out of 16 teams in the Preseason SEC Coaches Poll.
Alabama's offense has started well this season as the Crimson Tide have scored 13 goals in its four games so far. Defensively, Alabama has allowed four goals this season as Louisiana Tech has been the only team this season to score more than one goal on the Crimson Tide this year.
Preseason All-SEC selection and All-American forward, Gianna Paul continues to pace Alabama in both points (7) and goals (3), while forward Kiley Kukan leads the Crimson Tide in assists with three on the season. Throughout Alabama's first four games, 10 Alabama players have tallied goals for the Crimson Tide.
The expected starter in goal for Alabama is junior Coralie Lallier who has made five saves so far on the season in three appearances in goal.
