Update on the Bears
Mercer (2-2-2) is coming off two thrilling finishes at Betts Stadium. Last Wednesday, Junior Casillas scored an 88th minute, game-winning goal to secure the 1-0 win over Georgia State. This past Sunday, Tolu Adeyemi scored from near the corner flag with just 41 seconds on the clock to nab the 1-1 draw against then No. 22 South Florida.
Defense Wins Championships
Henry Hampshaw has excelled in his first season at the Division I level. After transferring from William Carey, Hampshaw has 19 saves and two clean sheets in six matches this year.
Gavin Morgan and Anthony Thambwe have been tremendous to begin the 2025 campaign. The pair of graduate seniors transferred to Mercer over the summer and have been anchors on the Bears' backline that have stifled countless chances throughout the season.
Flying with the Falcons
Air Force is 0-4-1 and has been outscored 12-5 so far this season. The Falcons are in the first year of newly appointed head coach Greg Dalby. In addition to a new gaffer, Air Force has 19 new cadets on this year's roster. There are only seven returners from last year's squad that finished 1-15-1.
Last year's match was the only prior meet-up between Mercer and the Falcons, and the Bears won 3-0 at Betts Stadium.
Marcos Goni is the leading goal-scorer for Air Force. The sophomore forward has two goals on 10 shots to begin his career with the Falcons.
