TROY, Ala. - Mercer volleyball was upended by Troy 0-3 on Wednesday night in Trojan Arena.

The Bears out-blocked the Trojans 18 to eight with middle blocker Joselynn Sanjurjo leading the way for Mercer with five blocks. Olivia Elliott and Sydney VanCott added four blocks a piece. Sophia Henry led the offensive effort for the Bears with nine kills and Sammi Bergjans and Jessica Dunn combined for 22 assists. Sophomore libero Aubri Martin once again led the defense for the Orange & Black with 14 digs on the night.

Mercer will head to Hattiesburg, Miss. for the Southern Miss Invitational on Sept. 12 and Sept. 13 where the Bears will face Southern Miss and Mississippi State before returning to Macon to host the Mercer Invitational the following weekend.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 16-25	Both squads were finding their footing in set one, exchanging points until the Trojans began to pull away at the 12-15 mark. Troy went on three multi-point service runs to pull the set out of reach from the Bears ultimately taking the 25-16 set-win.
SET 2 I 19-25	Troy took an early 4-0 lead until Sophia Henry put the Bears on the board with a kill. Mercer battled back to put the score 9-14 after an ace from Aubri Martin. The Trojans continued to rack up points and used a five-point service run to get to set-point and secured the set-two win.
SET 3 I 22-25	The Orange & Black stringed together two kills from Avery Wilks and Olivia Elliott to take a 16-11 lead over the Trojans. Troy used the energy in their home arena along with another six-point service run to take back the lead and ultimately the set from the Bears to pick up their second win of the season.
