The Bears return to the beloved Betts Stadium after a road trip that produced a pair of 2-0 losses. Mercer fell to Memphis last Thursday before dropping their contest against Lipscomb this past Sunday.
Heading into this match, Mercer remains undefeated at Betts Stadium in 2025. The Bears won the first match of the season in a dominant 4-1 victory over Oglethorpe. Before Mercer hit the road, they drew 1-1 with Evansville.
Since 2021, Mercer has either won or tied 25 of its 34 regular season matches at Betts Stadium.
Prowl with the Panthers
Georgia State earned their first win of the season this past Saturday when they defeated Winthrop 3-1 on the road.
After going down early in the second half, the Panthers scored three unanswered to secure the victory. Braiden Hall, Samir-Mohamed Djeha and Matthew Taylor were the three goal scorers for Georgia State.
Senior goalkeeper Loan Marin recorded a season-high six saves to help will the Panthers back from behind. The Lyon, France, native is at his fourth stop of his collegiate career. Marin came to Atlanta after playing for Presbyterian, Southwest Mississippi Community College and Northwest College.
The Panthers have several key returners, including their second leading goal scorer from 2024. Taylor, a senior forward, finished with four goals last season.Â
Gavin Williams, Hall and Tom Williams all return for their senior seasons in Georgia State's midfield. Defenders Hideto Gondo and Tom Fillaudeau round out the rest of the key returners. The Panthers only brought in nine new faces before this season.
