MACON – With merely seconds left on the clock, Tolu Adeyemi scored a goal that words could not describe to secure a 1-1 draw for the Mercer men's soccer team (2-2-2) against No. 22 South Florida (2-0-4) on Sunday night at Betts Stadium.

After a scoreless first half, South Florida broke the deadlock in the 46th minute. The Bears shut down the Bulls for the remainder of the second half and tied the contest with 41 seconds left in the match.

Adeyemi sent a laser from outside of the box to the top right corner of the net, notching his second goal of the season. Ethan Manzella and Bryce Griffith recorded the assists.

Henry Hampshaw had three huge saves early in the second half to keep the deficit at one and ultimately allow the Bears to find the equalizer late in the match.

Mercer will hit the road for the second time this season with a trip to Colorado this upcoming week. The Bears take on Air Force on Thursday night before taking on Denver Sunday evening.

Notables

With Sunday night's draw, Mercer remains undefeated in 2025 at Betts. The Bears bolster a 2-0-2 record at home and have outscored opponents 7-2 in those matches.
Manzella and Griffith earned their first goal contributions in a Mercer uniform. Manzella, a freshman, recorded the first assist of his collegiate career. Griffith, a transfer from South Carolina, snagged his first collegiate assist as well.
