
Mercer Wins Fourth Straight After 102-92 Win At UNCG

Mercer scored 100 points for third time in last four games
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Armani Mighty posted his 10th double-double of the season as Mercer rolled to its fourth consecutive win, 102-92 over UNCG Saturday evening from First Horizon Coliseum.
Mercer scored 100 points for the third time in its last four games and fifth time this season. It also marked the first time Mercer has scored 100 or more points in an away SoCon game since joining the league in 2014.
Mighty, after recording 25 rebounds two days prior, finished with his 10th double-double of the season with 20 points and 13 rebounds. He was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field. Baraka Okojie led all scorers with 25 points, to go with three assists and three rebounds.
Zaire Williams also added 17 points and Kyle Cuffe Jr. finished with 10 points.
It was another efficient game shooting the ball for the Bears who were 31-for-51 (60.8%) from the field and made 10-of-20 three-pointers. UNCG went 32-for-63 (50.8%) from the field and made 11-of-25 (44.0%) three-pointers.
Mercer was dominant on the glass for the second consecutive game as the Bears outrebounded the Spartans 37-22.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST HALF
Kyle Cuffe Jr. knocked down his first three of the game to give Mercer a quick 9-2 lead. An offensive rebound and putback by Mighty gave Mercer a 15-9 lead. Okojie converted an and-one play to put the Bears in front 29-21.
A few minutes later Okojie made a three-pointer and was fouled. Despite missing the free throw, the bucket finished an 11-0 run for the Bears who extended their lead to 16 points at 37-21.
Quinton Perkins II made a pull-up jump shot to make it a 46-29 game. In the final seconds of the half, Okojie drove and finished through traffic on a tough short jump shot to give the Bears a 51-37 lead at halftime
2ND HALF
Both teams came out of halftime making shots at a high rate. In the first three minutes of the half, Mercer had outscored UNCG, 13-10 to take a 64-47 lead. UNCG got back within 11 points at 69-58, but Mercer responded with a 13-2 run to open the lead back up to 22 points at 82-60 with just over 10 minutes to play.
UNCG slowly chipped away at Mercer's lead and got within 10 points at 91-81 with 2:32 to play. Mercer closed out the game by taking care of the ball and making its free throws to win 102-92.
