MACON, Ga. - The Mercer men's lacrosse team will close out their trip to Virginia with a matchup against #8 University of Richmond Spiders in Richmond, Va. on Monday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the 11th meeting between the two programs, with the first matchup dating back to 2014. However, this will be the first meeting between these two squads since 2023 when Richmond defeated Mercer on their home turf 11-6. The Spiders hold the overall record over the Bears 9-1 with Mercer's lone win happening back in the first matchup with the Bears coming away with a 11-7 victory.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bears are off to their best start in program history (3-0) after scoring ten-straight goals and holding VMI scoreless in the second quarter to give them the 16-12 advantage over the Keydets on Saturday, February 14 in Lexington.Â
Junior attackman Dillon Bush led the way for Mercer with five goals and an assist, while senior attackman Michael Frederick and sophomore attackman Will Zylstra added four goals, respectively. The remaining goals came from Ben Jose, Jack Sullivan and Kade McNeil with Dylan McKelvy and Luke Fox adding two assists a piece. The defense held off the Keydets offense with five different Bears causing a turnover and freshman goalkeeper Jacob Neuman posted eight saves.Â

The Spiders are led by Dan Chemotti who enters his 13th season at the helm for Richmond. The Spiders finished the 2025 season with an overall record of 14-4 and an undefeated 5-0 record in the A10 conference. Richmond took down High Point in the 2025 A10 Men's Lacrosse Championshop 16-10, taking the title for the sixth time in 12 years and hold the nation's longest streak for trips to a conference championship game with 11. Richmond also won their first ever NCAA Tournament game defeating North Carolina 13-10.
Senior attackman Aidan O'Neill currently leads the Spiders offense with 12 points in two games (six goals and six assists) while Senior midfielder Joe Sheridan is not far behind with nine points (eight goals and one assist). On the defensive side, Brayden Penafeather-Stevenson and Jack Pilling have combined for 12 groundballs and six caused turnovers while goalkeeper Connor Knight has recorded 28 saves (.596).
