| Â Â LAST TIME OUT | |
| Red-hot Wofford scored 18 points off of 20 Mercer turnovers and bridged the third and fourth quarters with a 14-2 run to turn back the visiting Bears, 72-58, on Thursday afternoon at the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium. Mercer combined to shoot 43.5 percent from the field in the second and third periods, but countered hot shooting with 11 turnovers across that 20-minute stretch. | |
| Â Â ABOUT MERCER | |
| The Bears (15-11, 5-6 SoCon) have dropped back-to-back games since reeling off three-straight wins just two weeks ago. Mercer has shot just 30.5 percent (33-for-108) from the field across its last two outings, while also mustering just 53.0 points per game. Regardless, MU has still registered its most road wins (6) since the 2022-23 campaign, and is forcing nearly 18 turnovers (17.7) per game away from Macon on the strength of 8.9 steals per game. Seniors Nahawa Diarra (11.3 ppg) and Ariana Bennett (10.3) have combined to tack up 21.6 points per game in 2025-26, with Bennett connecting on better than 45 percent of her field goal attempts. Diarra also paces the Orange & Black in rebounds (5.3) and steals (1.8) per game as well. | |
| Â Â SCOUTING FURMAN | |
| The Paladins (16-11, 8-4 SoCon) have captured seven of their last 10 outings, but had their two-game winning skein snapped with a 68-59 home loss to Samford on Thursday evening in Timmons Arena. Furman will be looking to put the kibosh on a three-game home losing streak on Saturday, but will need to find its SoCon-leading scoring offense again after averaging just 56.0 points over that stretch of three games inside its home arena. The Paladins pace the eight-team Southern Conference in eight statistical categories, most notably points (68.1), blocks (4.1), steals (11.6) and turnovers forced (20.9) per game. Clare Coyle (15.0 ppg) ranks third among league leaders in scoring, while fellow sophomore Channing Warren paces the league with 59.5 percent field goal shooting. | |
| Â Â MERCER/FURMAN SERIES | |
| Mercer has chalked up wins in 25 of the previous 35 matchups with the Paladins in a series that dates back to the 1979-80 campaign. Furman has won four of the last five matchups with the Bears, including a 60-49 triumph earlier this season in Macon. The visiting Paladins pulled down 19 offensive rebounds and scored 21 points off of 20 Mercer turnovers to fuel that decision. | |
| Â Â UP NEXT | |
| The Bears will host their final two games of the regular season next week in Hawkins Arena, beginning with a Thursday night tilt with East Tennessee State. Mercer is also scheduled to take on Southern Conference-leading Chattanooga on Saturday afternoon in Macon. | |
