Mercer Drops Match To Arkansas State In Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Despite starting out by winning the doubles point, the Mercer women's tennis team dropped its match to Arkansas State, 4-1 Saturday from the campus of Florida Gulf Coast.

In doubles play, Tea Zivic and Sofiya Tsitavets got things started with a 6-2 win over Helena Bueno and Anna Grigoreva of Arkansas State. Marie Bannmeyer and Antonia Schweigel clinched the doubles point on court three with a 6-4 win over Arkansas State's Hanmare McAslin and Sarah Millard.

In singles action, Lilly Cvanciger of Arkansas State defeated Tea Zivic, 6-0, 6-3. On court four, Arkansas State's Carla Muro Castellvi defeated Ines Hömberg, 6-3, 6-2 to give the Red Wolves a 2-1 lead.
Meghna Arun Kumar of Arkansas State won her match on court six over Valentine Abide Talaki, 6-3, 6-1. Helena Bueno clinched the match for the Red Wolves on court five with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Jelena Gojkovic.

The Bears will be back on the courts in one week when they travel to Troy, Alabama to play Troy on Saturday, Feb. 28. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.
