GAME DAY INFORMATION

Five Star Stadium | Macon, Ga.
Friday, Feb. 6 | 3 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY
Friday will be the fourth straight season in which the Bears and Hokies have met. Virginia Tech has won two of the first three meetings. Mercer's win came in 2023 in Blacksburg.
SEASON OUTLOOK
This year's Mercer team enters the season having lost some veteran, key players from last year's team that went 12-8 overall, 7-1 in conference play and made its seventh NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.
Offensively the Bears brought back their top two players in points in senior attacker Caroline Glus (72 points in 2025) and senior attacker Sofia D'Angelo (63 points in 2025). Glus was named the Big South Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.
In the midfield, numerous starters return such as Ansley Walters who for the second consecutive season was named the Big South Preseason Midfielder of the Year.
Defensively, the Bears return a lot, despite losing the Big South Defensive Player of the Year from last season in Abby Soltys. Kellie Voorhees, Fiona Tanis highlight two key returners for the Bears' defense. Mercer will start a new goalie this season after losing Kayla Casey to graduation.
SCOUTING VIRGINIA TECH
Virginia Tech finished last season 9-9 overall and 3-6 in ACC games. The Hokies narrowly missed being included in the NCAA field after a season that included a victory over No. 11 Syracuse and an RPI in the 20s.
Last season Virginia Tech averaged 10.9 goals per game and allowed an average of 13.3 goals per game. The Hokies wone 47.2 precent of its draw controls last year.
Virginia Tech senior attacker Lauren Render was named a USA Lacrosse preseason All-American honorable mention. The Georgia native led the Hokies with 55 goals, the sixth-most in a single season in program history.
