MACON – After a brief homestand, the Mercer Bears (20-4, 2-1 SoCon) prepare to hop on I-75 for a midweek matchup with in-state foe West Georgia (6-18, 3-3 ASUN) on Tuesday night.

Although these two programs are less than two and a half hours apart from one another, Mercer and UWG have only played twice in the Bears' 155 years of baseball. Tuesday night's tilt at Cole Field in Carrollton, Georgia will be the first meeting between the in-state foes since 1986 and is the first game of a home-and-home series this year with the Wolves traveling to Macon on April 7.
Mercer is coming off a series win over The Citadel (9-13, 1-2 SoCon) this past weekend. The Bears grabbed the first two games of the series due to tremendous outings by Garrett Lambert and Miguel Hugas and a historic game at the plate from Braydon Kersey. The Bulldogs were able to grab the series finale in a pitcher's duel.

Scouting the Wolves:

West Georgia is coming into the midweek after losing four of its last five games including an 8-2 loss to Georgia State and a series loss to Stetson. The Wolves began the season 3-14 in their second year as a Division I program.
Patrick McCullough and Andon Lewis lead West Georgia offensively. McCullough leads the Wolves with a .350 batting average across 100 at-bats while Lewis is not far behind with a .288 average over 88 at-bats. The pair of senior infielders account for 18 extra-base hits, 39 RBI, 96 total bases and 31 runs.
Lex Kenny has been dominant on the mound to start the 2026 season. The senior right-handed pitcher from Canton, Georgia, bolsters a team-leading 2.57 ERA and a 3-1 record across seven appearances (five starts). Kenny has the most innings pitched on his squad (35.0) and has held opposing batters to a .218 batting average when facing him.
