MACON, Ga. – In its first home conference match of the season, the Mercer women's tennis team dropped its match to Furman, 7-0 Tuesday afternoon from the Copelan Tennis Complex.

Starting with doubles, Furman's Lillie Murphy and Elle Warren who are the No. 31 ranked doubles pairing defeated Marina de Diego Quinones and Ines Hömberg, 6-2. On court two, Furman's Bianca Ceroni and Macy Hitchcock defeated Tea Zivic and Sofiya Tsitavets, 6-3 to clinch the doubles point. The last doubles match on court three between Marie Bannmeyer and Antonia Schweigel and Furman's Lily Doherty and Molly Robinson went the way of the Paladins who won , 6-4.
In singles action, Furman's Elle Warren defeated Tea Zivic, 6-1, 6-0. On court four, Bianca Ceroni of Furman won over Marie Bannmeyer 6-3, 6-2 to give the Paladins a 3-0 lead.
Macy Hitchcock clinched the match for Furman on court three when she earned a 6-4, 6-2 win over Sofiya Tsitavets. In the other three singles matches, Furman's Lillie Murphy defeated Marina de Diego Quinones, 6-3, 6-3.Â
On court six, Molly Robinson of Furman defeated Valentine Abide Talaki, 6-3, 6-1. The last singles match went three sets where ultimately, Furman's Lily Doherty defeated Ines Hömberg, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (8).
Mercer will be back on its home court in two days to play defending SoCon champion ETSUÂ at 2:30 p.m. from the Copelan Tennis Complex.
