Mercer Heads To Emory, Mississippi State This Weekend

MACON – The Mercer track & field teams will be back in action again on Friday and Saturday when the Bears split their sloth and trek to a pair of weekend meets. The distance runners will make the short hop over to Atlanta to take part in the Emory Thrills In The Hills Open, while the sprinters, jumpers and hurdlers are scheduled to compete at the Mississippi State-hosted Alumni Bulldog Relays.

The Bears opened the outdoor portion of their spring schedule last weekend at a pair of meets as well. Sophomore Naomi Pierce paced the sprinters, jumpers and hurdlers at the UCF Black & Gold Invitational with an 18^th-place finish in the Long Jump, while senior Iris Porter broke the school record by more than 24 seconds on the way to a runner-up finish at the Charlotte 49er Invitational to pace the distance squad.

Mercer is scheduled to compete in three events on Friday at Mississippi State's Mike Sanders Track Complex beginning with the Long Jump at 4:30 p.m. ET, and will conclude action in Starkville, Miss., on Saturday with the 4x400m Relay competition at 5:30 p.m.

It will be a busy Friday in Atlanta for MU as the Bears are slated to compete in three events at Emory University's Woodruff PE Center Stadium beginning with the 1500m Run at 5:45 p.m. The Orange & Black is also slated to compete in the 3000m Steeplechase (6:15 p.m.) and 5000m Run (7:15) on Friday. The Bears will compete in both the 1500m (12:45) and 800m (3:00) Runs on Saturday to wrap up at their stay at Emory.
