Bears Trek To Air Force For Final Road Test Of Regular Season

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer men's lacrosse team will make the long trek to USAF Academy, Colo. for the final road test of the 2026 regular season to take on the reigning conference champions Air Force Falcons on Saturday, April 18 at 1 p.m. at Falcon Stadium.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the 14th meeting between these to squads dating back to the first match up in 2011. Air Force holds the overall record 12-2 with Mercer's most recent win in 2021 when they defeated the Falcons 15-13 on their home turf. The most recent meeting saw Air Force take a 12-8 win over Mercer last season at Five Star Stadium on Saturday, April 19.

The Bears are coming off of a dominant Atlantic Sun Tournament-clinching win over Bellarmine 18-17 on Saturday, April 11 at Five Star Stadium on Alumni Day.
Junior attackman Dillon Bush and sophomore attackman Will Zylstra dominated the front lines for the Bears scoring six points (five goals, one assist) on the day, respectively, while senior attackman Michael Frederick posted a hat trick. Dylan McKelvy put up a pair of goals and Jack Sullivan, Kyle Pierce and Nick Church also found the back of the net for the Bears in the victory. Christoper Cappelmann had a strong day at the face off X going 23-35 and scooped up 13 ground balls. Quinn Kelley and Nolan Filley combined for 11 ground balls on the defensive side and freshman goalkeeper Jacob Neuman recorded 17 saves.

The Falcons are led by reigning ASUN Coach of the Year Bill Wilson who enters his eighth season at the helm for Air Force. The Falcons finished the 2025 season with an overall record of 9-8 and went 4-1 in the ASUN, taking down Utah 11-10 in the ASUN Championship on Sunday, May 4.
The Falcons currently sit with a record of 4-7 with conference wins against Bellarmine (13-12 OT) and Queens (17-7) and a 16-10 loss against Jacksonville to open conference play.
