MACON – Titan Kamaka was deemed as one of the nation's top 50 shortstops by the College Baseball Hall of Fame when they announced that Kamaka was a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award this morning.
The award honors the nation's top shortstop and will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this year. It is named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977 to 1980. Wallace died of leukemia at the age of 27.
Kamaka received the Brooks Wallace Player of the Week honors for his tremendous display of talents last week. The senior shortstop led the Bears with a .643/.737/.929 slash line and hit a go-ahead home run that secured Mercer's three-game sweep over Towson this past Sunday. Kamaka currently sits sixth in the nation with 18 doubles and a .424 batting average.
A senior from Orlando, Florida, Kamaka transferred to Mercer before the start of the 2025 season and has been a mainstay in the Bears' middle infield ever since. Kamaka has appeared in 91 games for the orange and black with 118 total hits, 29 doubles, 13 home runs and 75 RBI.Â
Kamaka and the Bears are back in action this weekend as Mercer welcomes Southern Conference rival Wofford to OrthoGeorgia Park. You can purchase tickets here.
