
Nine Bears Earn All-Conference Awards

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's lacrosse team saw nine student-athletes awarded postseason honors after the Atlantic Sun Conference announced the 2025 Men's Lacrosse All-ASUN Teams on Wednesday afternoon.
Mercer's top defender, Thomas Venzie, was named to the Second Team All-ASUN following an impressive junior year campaign. The Downingtown, Pa. native played a pivotal role in Mercer's defense this season recording 37 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers. Venzie played and started in all 13 contests for the Bears this season. The junior led the team in caused turnovers and sits fourth in the conference in caused turnovers per game.
The Bears named two student-athletes to the ASUN All-Freshman Team in goalkeeper Jacob Neuman and midfielder Nick Church who played and started in all games this season. Neuman totaled 135 saves with a .452 save percentage across 13 games and picked up 18 ground balls. The Crofton, Md. native posted a career-high 18 saves in Mercer's tournament-clinching win against Bellarmine. Church played a key role in Mercer's starting offense this season and made an immediate impact notching 11 points (eight goals, three assists) with nine ground balls and two caused turnovers. The Stevensville, Md. native posted multi-goal games against Marquette and Utah. Neuman and Church join fellow teammates Michael Frederick, Dillon Bush and Will Zylstra as the fourth and fifth student-athletes, respectively, to be named to the ASUN All-Freshman Team under head coach Ryan Danehy.
Christopher Cappelmann, Quinn Kelley, Dylan McKelvy, Davis Peek, Jack Sullivan and Thomas Venzie were named to the Academic All-ASUN Team for their performances on the field and in the classroom this season. In order to be considered for the Academic All-ASUN Team, an undergraduate student-athlete must have a cumulative 3.50 grade point average, participated in 50% of contests during the season, have completed four semesters of college coursework and have one year of residence at their respective institutions.Â

Cappelmann currently is fourth in the nation in ground balls per game and fifth for total ground balls. The face off specialist reached a career milestone of 200 ground balls during his senior campaign and totaled 100 ground balls on the season with a .548 face off percentage. The Smithtown, N.Y. native also added two goals and an assist.
Quinn Kelley
Business Administration
3.750 GPA
The graduate student played a big role on defense for the Bears this season playing in all 13 contests while recording 37 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers.
Dylan McKelvy
Finance and Economics
3.913 GPA
This is McKelvy's second year in a row earning a spot on the Academic All-ASUN Team. The midfielder tallied 12 points (eight goals, four assists) across 13 games while adding seven ground balls and one caused turnover. The Stevensville, Md. native posted a hat trick against Air Force on April 18.
Davis Peek
Marketing and Management
3.668 GPA
Peek played and started in all 13 contests for the Bears this season. The Buford, Ga. native totaled five ground balls and seven caused turnovers.
Jack Sullivan
Finance
3.812 GPA
Sullivan earned this honor for the second year in a row, starting in all 13 games for the Orange & Black this season. The Medfield, Ma. native finished the regular season with 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) with 14 ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Thomas Venzie

Venzie finished the season with the highest GPA on the team and led the Bears in caused turnovers with 23.Â
