MACON – The Mercer track & field team will close out the regular season portion of its 2026 schedule on Friday and Saturday when the Bears pack up their show and head to Jacksonville, Fla., to take part in the North Florida-hosted East Coast Relays.
Â
The Bears will compete in seven events across the two-event inside the Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium. Charity Obazughanmwen will kick off competition for the Orange & Black on Friday at 6:25 p.m. in the 200m Dash, with the distance runners wrapping up Day 1 competition at 7:50 p.m. and 8:55 p.m. in the 1500m Run and the 300m Steeplechase, respectively.
Â
Saturday's slate has Mercer competing in the 100m Hurdles, the 400m Dash and the Triple Jump.
Mercer is fresh from an impressive performance at the Charlotte Invitational last weekend. Sophomore Arielle Livingston logged a personal-best time of 14.01 seconds on the way to a ninth-place showing in the 100m Hurdles, while the 4x100m Relay squad finished seventh with another solid performance, to highlight action for the Mercer track & field team at the Charlotte Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Â
Saturday's meet in Jacksonville will mark the final tuneup for the Bears as they head to the Southern Conference Championships, May 11-12, in Cullowhee, N.C. Mercer has athletes ranked among the league's top 8 in 11 disciplines, including the 10,000m Run where Iris Porter and Chiara Belfico hold the two-fastest times among SoCon competitors this season.
Â
Multiple Bears are ranked among the top 8 in six of those events.
